Château de Bourdeilles
Built on a rocky spur, the Castle of Bourdeilles brings together two exceptional buildings. A 13th century medieval fortress involving an impressive keep and an elegant Renaissance dwelling which houses a collection of furniture from some of the wealthiest people of Aquitaine. Today classified as historical monuments, they represent the legacy of more than eight centuries of history. Located in the north-west of Périgueux, they overhang the Dronne River, and are, with the Castle of Biron, one of the four baronies of Périgord.
The Castle of Bourdeille runs many educational workshops during the holidays. Thematic visits, treasure hunts, medieval art… There is an experience for everyone. Accessible to the young public, these animations are supervised by an animator.
The «1307» escape game at the Castle of Bourdeilles is an immersive activity that transports players through the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. The rules are simple. With a virtual reality helmet, the participants live the adventure through the point of view of a knight templar prisoner during the Hundred Years War, fighting against the English invaders. To successfully escape, you must quickly solve puzzles in a given time!
During two days, the Castle of Bourdeilles organizes, in partnership with the company l’Âme des armes, the medieval and renaissance days. It is a unique opportunity for participants to discover costumes from this time, learn more about the weapons used or discover how rulings worked in the Middle Ages. Demonstrations and shows are organized in the heart of the castle and its gardens.
